The Pipestone County Museum will be offering a series of Family History Workshops early 2022. These workshops are designed for anyone who is interested in learning how to conduct genealogical research. All workshops will be held in the Community Room of the Pipestone County Courthouse. Workshops begin at 7:00 p.m. and will last no longer than 90 minutes. Cost to participate is $5.00 per workshop for nonmembers and $3.00 for members of the Pipestone County Historical Society. You may choose to attend one session or all three.
Workshop 1: “Start with What You Know” This workshop will be held Tuesday, January 18 and is designed to show participants how to use various family group sheets and timelines to record information already known about family members which will help identify other information they would like to know.
Workshop 2: “Utilizing Local Resources” This workshop will be held Tuesday, January 25 and will focus on how to use resources within a community such as historical societies, genealogical societies, newspapers, churches, and courthouse records to fill in missing information.
Workshop 3: “Taking it to the Web” This workshop will be held Tuesday, February 1st and will concentrate on using websites such as FamilySearch.com, Ancestry.com, and FindAGrave.com to further extend the research process.
